Narrative:
I was the pilot flying on this flight. Inbound on short final; the electric stab trim failed while the hand flying the aircraft. I asked the first officer to confirm the failure on his side; which he did. An emergency was then declared with tower (assistance was not requested). The first officer and I had a brief discussion regarding aircraft controllability with the current condition and configuration (landing configuration: flaps 30). Controllability was good throughout the remainder of the approach; although continuous forward pressure on the yoke was necessary. The first officer had to adjust the manual trim wheel; as the auto throttles were placarded inoperative. Due to our close proximity to the runway; I decided to continue the approach with the current condition and configuration. An uneventful landing followed. At the gate; the first officer found the stab trim actuator circuit breaker popped. A log entry was made.
