ZSU controller described a possible separation event between two tjbq departures; claiming radar equipment range settings and weather factors both contributed to the late recognition of the developing conflict.

Narrative:
A C208 departed tjbq airport westbound climbing to 10;000; followed by a SH36; climbing to 8;000; also westbound. The SH36 was overtaking the C206. When this sector is combined; R2 with R8; the range is not the best one to work the tjbq airport; a non approach control airport worked by the center. There was a lot of weather in the sector which made the whole situation worse. Both aircraft were deviating for weather. When I noticed the overtake I issued a vector to the SH36; but maybe it was too late or not enough; and I think; not sure; they lost 5 miles and 1000 ft. Recommendation; we are going to have available an R8 low sector soon; surface to FL150. This sector was made temporary and its use is going to be minimal. I think we should use this sector more often once inaugurated to provide a better service to tjbq; tjps and tjmz airports. The sector is going to have a better range to depict traffic and display weather. The increase of traffic in the area has been significant.
