Narrative:
Weather went down rapidly; an air carrier went around on short final; I have no airspace so I said I was going around and asked for a heading. South local said to go to 270; I immediately did that and then south local said something about a 28 departure; I replied you're not rolling are you? South local said yes; I then found the aircraft off the departure end directly underneath my go around and I told my aircraft to climb to 5000 as fast as he could. I'm not sure how close they came but it sure was unnerving. Recommendation; if your going to roll 28 IFR and land 22R they need to be gaped.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ORD North Local Controller described a conflict event when an arrival to Runway 22R executed a weather prompted go-around and conflicted with south local traffic departing Runway 28; the reporter suggested gaping procedures are necessary for this runway configuration.
