Narrative:
Being vectored for simultaneous ILS 36R at clt abeam clt at 4000' heading 180 degree. Given descent to 3400'. 15 miles south given turn to 330 degree and intercept. Approach control asked if we saw air carrier Y 12 O'clock intercepting 36L localizer. Then controller then told us to immediately descend to 2400'. The other aircraft was at 3400'. Nothing on approach plate indicated we should be at 2400'. That is the altitude to FAF but it is not shown as mandatory altitude. The 2400' is only shown as a min altitude until G/south intercept. Supplemental information from acn 90499. Recommendation keep 36L traffic at 3400', 36R at 2400'. Therefore protect if either overshoots.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION BETWEEN TWO ACR MAKING SIMULTANEOUS PARALLEL APCHS. OPERATIONAL ERROR.
Narrative: BEING VECTORED FOR SIMULTANEOUS ILS 36R AT CLT ABEAM CLT AT 4000' HDG 180 DEG. GIVEN DSCNT TO 3400'. 15 MILES S GIVEN TURN TO 330 DEG AND INTERCEPT. APCH CTL ASKED IF WE SAW ACR Y 12 O'CLOCK INTERCEPTING 36L LOC. THEN CTLR THEN TOLD US TO IMMEDIATELY DSND TO 2400'. THE OTHER ACFT WAS AT 3400'. NOTHING ON APCH PLATE INDICATED WE SHOULD BE AT 2400'. THAT IS THE ALT TO FAF BUT IT IS NOT SHOWN AS MANDATORY ALT. THE 2400' IS ONLY SHOWN AS A MIN ALT UNTIL G/S INTERCEPT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 90499. RECOMMENDATION KEEP 36L TFC AT 3400', 36R AT 2400'. THEREFORE PROTECT IF EITHER OVERSHOOTS.
