Narrative:
On climb out from cvg to bna, cleared to FL220, approaching level off my attention was distracted by a call from the cabin. As I answered the F/a's, I tried to engage our performance data computer in a cruise mode. Approaching FL220 it would not engage. ATC then called to query our altitude. We were at FL224 and still climbing. Our altitude select was showing FL230, even though we had set it for FL220. I am sure we had set FL220 in the altitude select originally because the first officer and I had confirmed it earlier. I believe this altitude incursion was the result of an unscheduled change in the altitude select on our MCP.
