Narrative:
Noticed brake temp light. Checked status and noticed left main 3 and 4 temp 6. Shutdown right engine and taxied to gate. Used only right brakes to stop aircraft from the bridge to gate. Called maintenance about the problem. I then went out to check aircraft and saw smoke coming from left truck. Maintenance asked me to release brakes; I did and came back outside to check aircraft and found maintenance using fire extinguisher on left main. Shortly the fire trucks came to assist. No one said anything about a fire until I talked to maintenance on tarmac. I then found out there was a small fire around brakes. All passengers were deplaned long before this notice about fire was known. Fire department sprayed the left truck.
