Narrative:
Airspace incursion. Entered iwa airspace without clearance. When I was about 10 miles from ffz and 2 miles east of chd I called ffz tower on 124.6 and received a clearance to enter their class D airspace. I was using a new GPS program called 'foreflight' installed on an apple ipad. Upon receiving my instructions from ffz I switched the ipad from the GPS navigation screen to a writing scratch pad to write down my landing instructions. With my head down concentrating on learning how to use the new program I lost my heading and inadvertently clipped the iwa airspace. I estimate that I was inside the iwa class D by about a 1/4 to 1/2 mile. Ffz informed me that iwa had 'typed me in as an airspace violation.' I confirmed that I had also noted my error. The ffz controller called iwa who only cautioned me to be more mindful of the airspace.
