Narrative:

During climb we received instructions to proceed from FL310 to FL330. I was first officer and was making an air to ground telephone call at the time and did not hear the clearance. The captain inadvertently set the altitude alerter to FL350 with the autoplt engaged and we continued past FL330. When center requested altitude verification at 33600', the captain realized the error and immediately descended to FL330. Our normal 'dual callout' cockpit procedure was disrupted because of a phone call. West/O that distraction, this altitude deviation would not have occurred.
