Narrative:
On the arrival to ord; approach assigned 27R even though we requested 27L or 28 on 2 previous radio frequencies. We asked for 27L or 28 and controller stated we would have to take a delay and hold. We accepted and were given a vector 5-10 miles north of track. We queried the controller for another runway and he stated 28 was closed. Not true; I dialed in south tower frequency and they were fully operational. This controller misled us and was trying to force us to use the shortest runway with windshear and microburst warning being issued within 30 of our arrival. Our heavy weight and high approach speed and additives for gusting winds to 38 KTS made 27R and bad choice for landing. We would have been forced to hold or delay passenger arrival further if the controller had not realized we were not going to be pressured into a bad decision.
