Narrative:
A C172 was transiting and was cleared through the cvg class bravo airspace at 6;500. A B747 was departing runway 27 climbing to 6;000. I exchanged traffic to both aircraft and both replied; 'looking.' as the aircraft were getting closer; the C172 keyed the frequency and said; 'he's coming right for us!' and then began a rapid descent into the B747. I issued an evasive maneuver to the B747 and the two aircraft did not hit each other. I asked the C172 what had happened and he said that it appeared the B747 was going to climb through him. The B747 continued on his route and the C172 landed at an adjacent facility and called the cvg TRACON as instructed. Recommendation; ATC wise; I believe that I did everything correctly. Maybe I could have issued an altitude 1;000 ft below the crossing VFR C172 to the B747; but I don't think it to be necessary.
