Narrative:
I had pre-flighted the plane carefully and did a run-up. Normal takeoff; departed the pattern to head to my destination. Everything was normal. Gauges were in proper range; full fuel. I had just leveled off at 3500 ft MSL and I noted that the oil pressure had dropped to zero. This was about fifteen minutes into the flight. The nearest airport was about 10 or more miles away so I reduced power and started to look for a place to land. A minute or two later the engine started to make a lot of noise and shake the plane. I found a suitable place to land (a plowed corn field) and put the plane down. There was no damage to the plane itself and the landing was uneventful. No injuries.
