Narrative:
During climb out; the flight attendant notified the flight crew that there was smoke in the cabin. We also noticed smoke in the cockpit about the same time. We executed the memory items for smoke in the cabin and notified ATC we were declaring an emergency and needed to return. During this time; QRH checklists were run for smoke in the cabin. We also notified the flight attendant that we were returning and that it would be a 'hard surface emergency landing' in about 10 minutes and that we would determine later if we would need to evacuate the plane (we did not need to).
