Narrative:

Departed miami with climb to 5;000 ft. Then cleared to 7;000 ft until clear some traffic followed by clearance to 10;000 ft. Passing 8;000 ft TA traffic appeared approximately 12 o'clock position +200 ft. Departure control reassigned direction to 180 heading. While in turn to 180 heading; we received RA descend. Followed RA and descended. Cessna passed overhead at about 400-500 ft. Thank goodness for TCAS!

Title: An Air Carrier departed MIA and while being vectored through 8;000 FT climbing to 10;000 FT received a TCAS RA descend command to provide separation from traffic which ATC was vectoring them away from.
