Narrative:

I inadvertently selected 30.31 in the altimeter setting when the real setting was 29.31. ATC queried our altitude to which I replied 13;000 ft. She said that she showed 12;000 ft and gave the altimeter setting of 29.31. We corrected immediately. It appears there was no traffic conflict. We had moderate turbulence which made it difficult to see the ACARS weather sheet. Strictly an attention to detail matter. It's not often you see 29.31 so my brain automatically converted [it] to 30.31. In the future I will physically touch the ACARS weather report altimeter settings to confirm.

Original NASA ASRS Text

Title: A B737-700 flight crew set their altimeters at 30.31 instead of the actual QNH which was 29.31. The Approach Controller noted the discrepancy when they reported level at 13;000 and the radar data block showed 12;000 MSL.
