Narrative:
Egpws warning on descent vectored away from STAR arrival. Flying at 5;000 ft we received a vector and new descent altitude (heading 250 or 270 and altitude 4;000 ft). I activated GPWS button on my side (first officer); about 3 seconds later received aural 'terrain' alert. The captain (pilot flying) executed escape maneuver and I advised the approach controller about it. She responded with a new heading (heading 290 and told us to go back to 5;000 when able). Shortly after that she handed us over to next controller. Location: last part on COMMO1 arrival for landing runway 11 oak. Weather: IFR rain with mixed intensity. Controller appeared to be casual and almost annoyed as if this wasn't the first airbus having to do an escape maneuver that day following their/her instructions. This is only my personal (pilot not flying) observation. Just like in the simulator.
