Narrative:
We were awaiting takeoff clearance on runway 27L at phl at approximately XA15 EDT. We were facing east. Large transport Y was cleared to sidestep land on runway 27L. After his landing we were cleared into position and hold. While making our 180 degree turn onto the runway, the tower cleared us for an immediate takeoff. I promptly advanced the throttle. The tower said, 'medium large transport X, just cleared for takeoff.' at this point I had a concern about the location of large transport Y that had just landed as we could not see it. I asked the first officer to ask the tower to confirm large transport Y was clear of our runway. As I spoke, the tower said, 'medium large transport X cancel takeoff clearance.' I aborted, taxied back and was reclred for takeoff. The tower made no comment nor offered any explanation for the incident. Supplemental information from acn 92549: tower at that point declared, 'takeoff clearance cancelled.' we aborted at 60-70 KTS and between 500-1000' into takeoff roll.

Title: ACR-MLG IS CLEARED FOR AND STARTS TKOF ROLL WITH ACR-LGT STILL ON RWY AFTER LNDG.
Narrative: WE WERE AWAITING TKOF CLRNC ON RWY 27L AT PHL AT APPROX XA15 EDT. WE WERE FACING E. LGT Y WAS CLRED TO SIDESTEP LAND ON RWY 27L. AFTER HIS LNDG WE WERE CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD. WHILE MAKING OUR 180 DEG TURN ONTO THE RWY, THE TWR CLRED US FOR AN IMMEDIATE TKOF. I PROMPTLY ADVANCED THE THROTTLE. THE TWR SAID, 'MLG X, JUST CLRED FOR TKOF.' AT THIS POINT I HAD A CONCERN ABOUT THE LOCATION OF LGT Y THAT HAD JUST LANDED AS WE COULD NOT SEE IT. I ASKED THE F/O TO ASK THE TWR TO CONFIRM LGT Y WAS CLR OF OUR RWY.
