Narrative:
During taxi out in zbaa; received multiple progressive clearances; D1 hold short Z4; Z4 hold short D3;left on D3 right M hold short Z3; while first officer looked for Z3; I made turn onto what I assumed was D3; but was in fact a ramp area. Had a solid yellow line between an aircraft and a light pole. After the turn; ground asked us to stop in fear of proper clearance to the pole. I thought clearance was not an issue; after we stopped; had first officer visually check right wing and reported we were clear; but it was tighter than we expected. Had our pushback crew come out; they informed us we had approximately 3 meters of clearance on the wing.
