Narrative:
The jumpseat interferes with the door assist handle when operating the forward entry door on this aircraft. When opening/closing the door from inside the aircraft; the right hand can be injured. As the door swings in or out; the right hand holding the door assist handle comes too close to the forward jumpseat. I noticed this when securing the door for departure. I notified the captain immediately. The interference was confirmed when opening the door upon landing. I informed the captain and maintenance that the first time I had this issue was when the life vests were installed. Back then; I was told by maintenance that the jumpseat had to be adjusted to allow the proper space for the right hand and handle when opening/closing the door. Operating the door from the cracked position is the most difficult task. When able; I would ask the agent to close the door.
