Narrative:
Leased small aircraft. Preflted properly. Had transponder failure on trip from N67 to roanoke, va. Nearest avionic repair point. Flying service pottstown. Repaired instrument and completed trip. Continuous communication with arrogant ATC. There was no obvious safety hazard as altimeter is encoding and multiple position reports given by pilot. Lease service notified of repair upon return. ATC very arrogant, belligerent and uncooperative, not of a professional level perhaps due to ATC insecurity and inexperience.
