We lost the number two engine at cruise approximately one half hour into the flight. We followed the QRH made the necessary communications and landed without incident. A softball size hole in the gearbox caused the engine to quit.

Title: B737 crew experienced an engine failure at FL330 and diversion to the nearest suitable airport.
Narrative: We lost the number two engine at cruise approximately one half hour into the flight. We followed the QRH made the necessary communications and landed without incident. A softball size hole in the gearbox caused the engine to quit.
