Narrative:

We were being vectored to intercept the xxr localizer. Suddenly; we lost most of the flight and engine instruments. We aborted the approach and asked for vectors so we could figure out what happened. We were given instructions to climb to 4000 feet. We climbed and while doing so saw that we had lost the left generator and the left AC bus. We went through the QRH procedure and were able to restore power to the aircraft. We were vectored around for another approach and landed without further incident. The incident was written up in the maintenance log and was explained to a mechanic.
