Narrative:
After pushback and engine start (south side of b-concourse) we called clearance for taxi. They switched us to monitor ground. Ground called and said to taxi to runway 25R via delta at zulu, north on zulu monitor tower 119.5. We acknowledged the clearance and started to taxi. We discussed the clearance as being unusual for den, but upon reaching the end of the b-concourse we saw that they had airplanes in the penalty box, the south side of the holding area for runway 35L was full with more airplanes taxiing in the area. We decided that ground really wanted us to continue on what we believed to be delta taxiway (7/25 runway), then north on zulu to runway 35R past the fire station. The frequency was congested so we continued to taxi straight ahead while monitoring ground. Just before turning on zulu ground called us and said that there was 'no problem, but for your information on VFR days that 7/25 can be an active runway and not delta taxiway.' we discussed it with him and he repeated that there had not been a problem, just to be aware of it in the future. Suggestion: change what is marked as 'delta' on the ramp area as the outer and show a dotted taxi line through the ramp past the penalty box to zulu by runway 35L. Also, change terminology of ground clearance to include a reference to 7/25 if that is the way they want you to taxi.

Title: ACR LGT TAXIED ON ACTIVE RWY AFTER TAXI CLRNC INTERP FAULTY.
Narrative: AFTER PUSHBACK AND ENG START (S SIDE OF B-CONCOURSE) WE CALLED CLRNC FOR TAXI. THEY SWITCHED US TO MONITOR GND. GND CALLED AND SAID TO TAXI TO RWY 25R VIA DELTA AT ZULU, N ON ZULU MONITOR TWR 119.5. WE ACKNOWLEDGED THE CLRNC AND STARTED TO TAXI. WE DISCUSSED THE CLRNC AS BEING UNUSUAL FOR DEN, BUT UPON REACHING THE END OF THE B-CONCOURSE WE SAW THAT THEY HAD AIRPLANES IN THE PENALTY BOX, THE S SIDE OF THE HOLDING AREA FOR RWY 35L WAS FULL WITH MORE AIRPLANES TAXIING IN THE AREA. WE DECIDED THAT GND REALLY WANTED US TO CONTINUE ON WHAT WE BELIEVED TO BE DELTA TXWY (7/25 RWY), THEN N ON ZULU TO RWY 35R PAST THE FIRE STATION. THE FREQ WAS CONGESTED SO WE CONTINUED TO TAXI STRAIGHT AHEAD WHILE MONITORING GND. JUST BEFORE TURNING ON ZULU GND CALLED US AND SAID THAT THERE WAS 'NO PROB, BUT FOR YOUR INFO ON VFR DAYS THAT 7/25 CAN BE AN ACTIVE RWY AND NOT DELTA TXWY.' WE DISCUSSED IT WITH HIM AND HE REPEATED THAT THERE HAD NOT BEEN A PROB, JUST TO BE AWARE OF IT IN THE FUTURE. SUGGESTION: CHANGE WHAT IS MARKED AS 'DELTA' ON THE RAMP AREA AS THE OUTER AND SHOW A DOTTED TAXI LINE THROUGH THE RAMP PAST THE PENALTY BOX TO ZULU BY RWY 35L. ALSO, CHANGE TERMINOLOGY OF GND CLRNC TO INCLUDE A REF TO 7/25 IF THAT IS THE WAY THEY WANT YOU TO TAXI.
