Narrative:

Pushback off of gate ord. Situation with large transport B on gate to our right, heavy transport on gate to our left. After starting #1 and #3 engines, released by ground guideman for 180 degree left turnout. Another large transport C holding in inner taxiway. Advised by another ground controller to taxi inner taxiway for runway 32R. The large transport C was to remain holding on the inner and another was holding at spot 3 until we taxied clear. Advanced power on engine 1 and 3 to approximately 60% M2. Allowed aircraft to move forward a few feet, then executed a full hard left turn. Once aircraft turned approximately 120 degrees, reduced power to almost idle until aircraft completed. The 180 degrees turn and aircraft reached the inner taxiway. Once aircraft reached the inner taxiway, turned right and advanced power and taxied out so that other aircraft could begin or continue their taxi sequence. On arrival alb, advised to call dispatcher and duty manager. Told that a baggage cart near heavy transport on gate to our right rolled and struck ground crewman who had his back turned to avoid jet blase. Asked to provide captain report. Weight of aircraft on taxiout approximately 162000#. Taxi jet blast accident (see attached). Recommend baggage equipment not be left unattended where aircraft have to make sharp 180 degree turns at break away power setting.

Title: JET BLAST FROM ACR-LGT DEP GATE AT ORD PUSHED BAGGAGE CART INTO CGP FACING AWAY FROM ACFT TO AVOID JET BLAST.

Narrative: PUSHBACK OFF OF GATE ORD. SITUATION WITH LGT B ON GATE TO OUR RIGHT, HVT ON GATE TO OUR LEFT. AFTER STARTING #1 AND #3 ENGS, RELEASED BY GND GUIDEMAN FOR 180 DEG LEFT TURNOUT. ANOTHER LGT C HOLDING IN INNER TXWY. ADVISED BY ANOTHER GND CTLR TO TAXI INNER TXWY FOR RWY 32R. THE LGT C WAS TO REMAIN HOLDING ON THE INNER AND ANOTHER WAS HOLDING AT SPOT 3 UNTIL WE TAXIED CLR. ADVANCED PWR ON ENG 1 AND 3 TO APPROX 60% M2. ALLOWED ACFT TO MOVE FORWARD A FEW FEET, THEN EXECUTED A FULL HARD LEFT TURN. ONCE ACFT TURNED APPROX 120 DEGS, REDUCED PWR TO ALMOST IDLE UNTIL ACFT COMPLETED. THE 180 DEGS TURN AND ACFT REACHED THE INNER TXWY. ONCE ACFT REACHED THE INNER TXWY, TURNED RIGHT AND ADVANCED PWR AND TAXIED OUT SO THAT OTHER ACFT COULD BEGIN OR CONTINUE THEIR TAXI SEQUENCE. ON ARR ALB, ADVISED TO CALL DISPATCHER AND DUTY MGR. TOLD THAT A BAGGAGE CART NEAR HVT ON GATE TO OUR RIGHT ROLLED AND STRUCK GND CREWMAN WHO HAD HIS BACK TURNED TO AVOID JET BLASE. ASKED TO PROVIDE CAPT RPT. WT OF ACFT ON TAXIOUT APPROX 162000#. TAXI JET BLAST ACCIDENT (SEE ATTACHED). RECOMMEND BAGGAGE EQUIP NOT BE LEFT UNATTENDED WHERE ACFT HAVE TO MAKE SHARP 180 DEG TURNS AT BREAK AWAY PWR SETTING.
