Narrative:

Approximately 5 minutes into this flight; on climb to 10;500 ft; direct to my destination; [and] after fueling just prior to departure; the engine stopped in climb at about 5;000 ft. Unable to make any airport [and] a landing was made [with no power] in a soy bean field. No injuries; no structural damage to aircraft; only prop and antenna damage. Fuel contamination is suspected. Was in communication with center at time and they were notified by cell phone of safe; no injuries landing immediately after event.

Title: A Lancair Legacy engine quit at 5;000 FT climbing after takeoff because of suspected fuel contamination. The aircraft was just fueled but unable to return to the airport landed in a field sustaining prop and antenna damage.
