Narrative:

Working btv sector and had weather and aircraft on east of sector that were in conflict coming from sector 78 and 77 while other aircraft in sector were needing deviations for weather. I and sector 66 made coordination with sector 78 to stop an aircraft that were in conflict with an aircraft west bound from sector 77; which caused conflicts with other aircraft in my sector that were north bound; coordinated off line with sector 66 to turn and descend the aircraft at the same time sector 66 had traffic that my traffic needed to miss in which I'm coordinating off line with sector 66 to make this happen; about this time and I think a little earlier; I knew I needed assistance for coordination; so I yelled for a d-side and kept working; I thought the supervisor heard me. As the complexity of the traffic grew; sector 78 had another aircraft they climbed to 330 which made matters worse; about this time a d-side arrived; I then saw aircraft X and aircraft Z enter conflict alert and I issue 20 degrees of turn to both aircraft mean while I had aircraft Y south bound to sector 92 and I had taken a hand off from sector 92 on a mdw arrival that could be in conflict; so after the mdw traffic didn't come over on frequency I climbed my traffic and I must have missed the hand off entry; or it didn't take; and sector 92's airspace was violated. Then almost one after another aircraft Z and aircraft X advised they are responding to a TCAS event. While all this was going on; and I'm trying to clean everything up; the d-side came up to speed and I solved one more conflict I had on other side of the sector and regained complete control of the sector. I believe this situation happened; because I missed traffic at 340 as well as the adjacent sector that did not observe the limited target their aircraft was climbing into; additionally I was working with several aircraft within 330 and 340 with weather and ran out of space and ability to coordinate. I was also distracted from the traffic trying to coordinate all the details of what I was trying to complete and ultimately caused me to be slowed down and get behind which caused me to miss the aircraft X and aircraft Z and allow aircraft Y to proceed without a hand off. In addition; I also should have ensured the supervisor heard my request for a d-side which would have alleviated workload. Recommendation; request a d-side earlier and ensure they hear my request and I should have been more proactive in my control instructions and increased my scanning.

Title: ZID Controller described a loss of separation event during a very heavy/complex traffic period; the reporter noting the request for a D-Side should have been made much earlier.
