Narrative:

Our airline hasn't given us any quality (classroom;etc) training regarding the critical changes in our operation. We get a very brief booklet and then must answer 10 questions online and that constitutes 'proper training'. During our pre-flight planning we became aware that our new irregular and emergency procedure manual which we must rely upon for anything which may occur (and which we have had zero training in its correct use) has a discrepancy from where procedures are actually located within the manual and where they are listed in the manual's index; very unsafe! How can we use the manual required by the FAA if we can't locate the items that we need??? The manual's inside cover states that the manual is provided for the pilot's convenience.........what the heck? It's required not for our convenience.....it's for safety. So we are asked to print out a 'correction' before flight which lists for certain procedures their actual and correct locations within said manual. With more than 34 years of flying for 3 major international airlines with zero accidents or incidents I am appalled that the airline's FAA supervisor would allow this band-aid to even be a consideration let alone allowing it to be placed on the airplanes. Imagine the confusion while dealing with a situation and finding it not where it's indexed; then remembering to pull a small piece of paper out of one's pocket; going through said list; locating the correction and then dealing with the emergency or abnormal problem; very unsafe! Our airlines managers have again; to the detriment of safety; shown their lack of ability to operate safely our airline.
