Narrative:
Flying an small aircraft VFR x-c en route from scottsbluff, northeast to redwood falls, mn, contacted sioux falls approach control for traffic advisories through area. Although non transponder, radar contact was established after turn for identify about 20 mn southwest of fsd. Radar service was terminated about 20 NM ene and frequency change approved. About 2 mins later, I observed an medium large transport coming right to left in a right turn. I broke right as he passed in front and slightly below me. He appeared to turn back left after passing. I feel I would have been able to be more alert to situation by staying on approach control frequency if radar contact could have been maintained for a longer time. I had not been advised of the medium large transport and do not know if he had been advised of my presence.
