Narrative:

A student was performing her first solo touch and goes in the pattern. The instuctor supervised multiple touch and goes with the student; then requested a full stop to exit the aircraft. Solo; the student performed her first two landings flawlessly. After her third and final landing; upon braking the aircraft to slow down; the aircraft began a left turn. The plane continued to decelerate and turn; eventually exiting the runway at minimal speed; and came to rest with the left main gear in a sand pit. The flight instructor contacted ground and received permission to proceed directly to the aircraft from his observational post. Reaching the aircraft; the instructor and student lifted and pushed the aircraft's left main gear out of the sand pit. The aircraft had no visible damage and all gear appeared to be intact and operational. The instructor received a clearance to taxi from present position out of the grass; onto the runway; then via taxiways back to home base. Post flight inspection revealed no damage; but the aircraft was still squawked for a requested maintenance inspection.
