Narrative:

During radar vectors after takeoff, I received an altitude clearance to which I acknowledged, 8000' from miami center. We were handed off to palm beach approach, reported level at 8000'. Controller claimed we were cleared to 7000'. I believe and acknowledged 8000' from the center. The controller told us to descend to 7000'. The even-000 altitude hemispheric rule does not apply in florida, making wrong altitude assignments less noticeable.
