Narrative:
On glen rose nine arrival into dfw we were help up high at 17;000 ft for crossing traffic 500 below (military). As the traffic approached we received an RA to climb. After clearing conflict back on way down to 17;000 ft I misunderstood a clearance for lower to 11;000. By the time I realized the mistake I had descended to 16;700 ft before climbing back to 17;000 ft. The clearance was actually for another aircraft. I think I took it by mistake partly because I was told to expect lower when clearing traffic. I was expecting it right away because by now we were getting really close to isabl intersection with an expectation to cross that at 11;000 ft. This was going to be very difficult if descent was not initiated very soon. There was also a lot of confusion with the controller over the RA as to what we were doing. The confusion on the frequency along with the expectation of lower I believe led to the confusion and taking the wrong clearance by mistake.

Title: An Air Carrier on the Glen Rose 8 Arrival was held at 17;000 FT for military traffic with an expect 11;000 FT clearance but after the traffic caused a TCAS RA and was clear the Captain erroneously began a descent to 11;000 but was stopped by his First Officer.
