Narrative:
Medium large transport X was a sdl arrival aircraft at FL390. Large transport X an enroute aircraft at FL370 north of medium large transport X projected path. I believed that sufficient lateral separation existed and would continue to exist if I descended medium large transport X to FL240. I descended medium large transport X to FL240 and loss of separation occurred.

Narrative: MLG X WAS A SDL ARRIVAL ACFT AT FL390. LGT X AN ENROUTE ACFT AT FL370 NORTH OF MLG X PROJECTED PATH. I BELIEVED THAT SUFFICIENT LATERAL SEPARATION EXISTED AND WOULD CONTINUE TO EXIST IF I DESCENDED MLG X TO FL240. I DESCENDED MLG X TO FL240 AND LOSS OF SEPARATION OCCURRED.
