Narrative:
I had accepted handoffs on medium large transport X from ny approach and large transport Y from ny center. I climbed medium large transport X to FL210 direct to cam. During this time I descended large transport Y to FL210 and handed large transport Y off to sector 34 (providence). In my mind large transport Y was en route to boston. I allowed myself to be distracted by someone talking to me about other ATC information and by the time I realized large transport Y had turned north on V91 to alb it was too late to prevent the conflict. Medium large transport X was handed off to sector 19 and transferred prior to my realizing a conflict was about to take place. When I realized a conflict was taking place I turned large transport Y 30 degrees right then issued an immediate right turn to 100 degrees. After flts were separated I continued large transport Y on a right turn to a 290 heading and descended to one five thousand. During this time sector 34 called and questioned destination of large transport Y. They handed large transport Y back off to me and I handed flight off to sector six.

Narrative: I HAD ACCEPTED HANDOFFS ON MLG X FROM NY APCH AND LGT Y FROM NY CENTER. I CLIMBED MLG X TO FL210 DIRECT TO CAM. DURING THIS TIME I DSNDED LGT Y TO FL210 AND HANDED LGT Y OFF TO SECTOR 34 (PROVIDENCE). IN MY MIND LGT Y WAS ENRTE TO BOSTON. MLG X WAS HANDED OFF TO SECTOR 19 AND TRANSFERRED PRIOR TO MY REALIZING A CONFLICT WAS ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE. WHEN I REALIZED A CONFLICT WAS TAKING PLACE I TURNED LGT Y 30 DEGS R THEN ISSUED AN IMMEDIATE R TURN TO 100 DEGS. AFTER FLTS WERE SEPARATED I CONTINUED LGT Y ON A R TURN TO A 290 HDG AND DSNDED TO ONE FIVE THOUSAND. DURING THIS TIME SECTOR 34 CALLED AND QUESTIONED DEST OF LGT Y. THEY HANDED LGT Y BACK OFF TO ME AND I HANDED FLT OFF TO SECTOR SIX.
