Narrative:
National weather service (NWS) sigmets for severe turbulence in the continental USA are not going into pilot weather packages. We came on shift today with widespread moderate turbulence. NWS sigmets whiskey and xray over the pacific northwest and bay area; which were the result of actual severe reports. Our weather provider had no sigmets issued initially. They did subsequently come out with one for the bay area. We are deluged with PIREPS from crews and trying to keep up with briefings; weather; enroute reports; etc. Assuring we send crews the NWS sigmets should not be an added burden. They should always be included in pilot weather packages to supplement our providers. To fail to provide these is a violation of the far which requires we provide all current forecasts and reports. We have been reporting this for issue years now. It needs immediate correction. From a liability standpoint the company should want this supplied to crews to supplement all of the other info they receive. The burden has been unfairly added to already over-burdened dispatchers. This becomes a safety issue on days like today where the workload is already extremely high. Include all NWS sigmets in all effected pilot briefing packages.
