Narrative:
Flight deck door came open during the initial climb. This became a distraction and we failed to notice that the slats were at mid seal. The aircraft warning system directed our attention to the slats and the limit speed of 280 KTS was exceeded briefly by approximately 5 KTS.

Title: During climb out of 10;000 FT; the crew notices the cockpit door has swung open and the non-flying First Officer attempts to close it. The Captain forgets the slats are out and accelerates to 280 KTS; producing a 'Slat Overspeed' aural warning.
Narrative: Flight deck door came open during the initial climb. This became a distraction and we failed to notice that the slats were at mid seal. The aircraft warning system directed our attention to the slats and the limit speed of 280 KTS was exceeded briefly by approximately 5 KTS.
