Narrative:
We were cruising at FL330 between gabes and deeno direct. We talked to bda control on 128.5 and idented on transponder code. Radar contact had been established. Bda control asked if we could climb to FL350. We replied that we could. Several mins went by and then we asked if we were cleared to FL350. The control person said no, that he had been unable to coordinate with ny and to remain at FL330. At XT15 EST we heard widebody transport Y had made an evasive maneuver (40 degree bank) in order to miss us. He was eastbound at FL330 on RT14. He turned on his landing lights and we saw him at 4 O'clock about 5 or 6 mi heading north. The controller had us both radar contact but did not alter courses, speeds, or altitudes of either aircraft. The lack of coordination between bermuda and ny was definitely a contributing factor. Had bermuda controled the altitudes in their airspace the conflict could have been easily averted.

Title: FOREIGN ACR-WDB TOOK EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID COLLISION WITH ACR-WDB AT SAME ALT ON CROSSING COURSE. LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION.
Narrative: WE WERE CRUISING AT FL330 BTWN GABES AND DEENO DIRECT. WE TALKED TO BDA CTL ON 128.5 AND IDENTED ON TRANSPONDER CODE. RADAR CONTACT HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED. BDA CTL ASKED IF WE COULD CLB TO FL350. WE REPLIED THAT WE COULD. SEVERAL MINS WENT BY AND THEN WE ASKED IF WE WERE CLRED TO FL350. THE CTL PERSON SAID NO, THAT HE HAD BEEN UNABLE TO COORDINATE WITH NY AND TO REMAIN AT FL330. AT XT15 EST WE HEARD WDB Y HAD MADE AN EVASIVE MANEUVER (40 DEG BANK) IN ORDER TO MISS US. HE WAS EBND AT FL330 ON RT14. HE TURNED ON HIS LNDG LIGHTS AND WE SAW HIM AT 4 O'CLOCK ABOUT 5 OR 6 MI HDG N. THE CTLR HAD US BOTH RADAR CONTACT BUT DID NOT ALTER COURSES, SPDS, OR ALTS OF EITHER ACFT. THE LACK OF COORD BTWN BERMUDA AND NY WAS DEFINITELY A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. HAD BERMUDA CTLED THE ALTS IN THEIR AIRSPACE THE CONFLICT COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY AVERTED.
