Narrative:

Approximately 7000' on climb out from sdf #2 oil filter bypass light came on after reducing thrust (per procedure), light stayed on, engine was shutdown. I considered it a safer course of action to continue to ord because of airport facs and runway selections (WX was good for entire route of flight, performance wasn't a problem because of light weight). I feel captain should have more leeway in decision making in 3 or 4 engine jets than FAA currently gives in engine shutdown cases.
