Narrative:
On taxi out on parallel taxiway a to runway 9 at key west, I observed a light twin airplane parked close to the taxiway. I slowed taxi speed almost to a halt and moved as far as possible to the right side of taxiway, putting my left main gear on the centerline of taxiway. I then leaned forward and looked back at the left wing tip. It was about 6' from tail of light twin and appeared to be clear by about 4'. I continued straight ahead until I felt I was well clear before returning to centerline of taxiway. I was about to tell first officer to call tower and report the twin as being too close to taxiway when tower said to stop, that we had hit light twin aircraft. No on in crew felt any impact. Supplemental information from acn 100884: the small aircraft was parked 17.5' from the edge of the 50' wide taxiway and its location was approximately 60' nearer the taxiway than allowed by the double yellow restr parking line. Four other aircraft were also parked in this restr area. Tower did not mention that these aircraft were parked very close to the taxiway we were directed to use.

Title: ACR LGT WING TIP STRUCK TAIL OF GA SMA PARKED TOO CLOSE TO TXWY DURING TAXI OUT.
Narrative: ON TAXI OUT ON PARALLEL TXWY A TO RWY 9 AT KEY WEST, I OBSERVED A LIGHT TWIN AIRPLANE PARKED CLOSE TO THE TXWY. I SLOWED TAXI SPD ALMOST TO A HALT AND MOVED AS FAR AS POSSIBLE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF TXWY, PUTTING MY LEFT MAIN GEAR ON THE CENTERLINE OF TXWY. I THEN LEANED FORWARD AND LOOKED BACK AT THE LEFT WING TIP. IT WAS ABOUT 6' FROM TAIL OF LIGHT TWIN AND APPEARED TO BE CLR BY ABOUT 4'. I CONTINUED STRAIGHT AHEAD UNTIL I FELT I WAS WELL CLR BEFORE RETURNING TO CENTERLINE OF TXWY. I WAS ABOUT TO TELL F/O TO CALL TWR AND RPT THE TWIN AS BEING TOO CLOSE TO TXWY WHEN TWR SAID TO STOP, THAT WE HAD HIT LIGHT TWIN ACFT. NO ON IN CREW FELT ANY IMPACT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 100884: THE SMA WAS PARKED 17.5' FROM THE EDGE OF THE 50' WIDE TXWY AND ITS LOCATION WAS APPROX 60' NEARER THE TXWY THAN ALLOWED BY THE DOUBLE YELLOW RESTR PARKING LINE. FOUR OTHER ACFT WERE ALSO PARKED IN THIS RESTR AREA. TWR DID NOT MENTION THAT THESE ACFT WERE PARKED VERY CLOSE TO THE TXWY WE WERE DIRECTED TO USE.
