Narrative:
Taxiing into gate area I noticed a parked truck off our left side that looked like it would be very close to our wingtip. I stopped the aircraft but the ground guide kept signaling us to move forward. At this point I ordered the first officer to watch the ground guide and I watched the wingtip. The truck looked to me to be no more than 2 inches from our wingtip. I asked the first officer if the ground guide was still signaling us to proceed and he replied in the affirmative. I moved forward very slowly until the navigation light cover contacted the truck and then stopped. From my angle up to the point of contact, it looked as though we would clear the truck but not by much. I misjudged the distance. After shutting down, inspection of the wingtip revealed the cover over the navigation lights to be broken. This part cost $649.00 without labor. In retrospect, I should have not moved the aircraft until the truck was moved or a wing walker was supplied. The ground guide was apparently oblivious to the truck as kept motioning us forward even after we hit it.

Title: ACR LTT ACFT STRUCK A SVC TRUCK DURING TAXI TO GATE PARKING.
Narrative: TAXIING INTO GATE AREA I NOTICED A PARKED TRUCK OFF OUR L SIDE THAT LOOKED LIKE IT WOULD BE VERY CLOSE TO OUR WINGTIP. I STOPPED THE ACFT BUT THE GND GUIDE KEPT SIGNALING US TO MOVE FORWARD. AT THIS POINT I ORDERED THE FO TO WATCH THE GND GUIDE AND I WATCHED THE WINGTIP. THE TRUCK LOOKED TO ME TO BE NO MORE THAN 2 INCHES FROM OUR WINGTIP. I ASKED THE FO IF THE GND GUIDE WAS STILL SIGNALING US TO PROCEED AND HE REPLIED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE. I MOVED FORWARD VERY SLOWLY UNTIL THE NAV LIGHT COVER CONTACTED THE TRUCK AND THEN STOPPED. FROM MY ANGLE UP TO THE POINT OF CONTACT, IT LOOKED AS THOUGH WE WOULD CLR THE TRUCK BUT NOT BY MUCH. I MISJUDGED THE DISTANCE. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN, INSPECTION OF THE WINGTIP REVEALED THE COVER OVER THE NAV LIGHTS TO BE BROKEN. THIS PART COST $649.00 WITHOUT LABOR. IN RETROSPECT, I SHOULD HAVE NOT MOVED THE ACFT UNTIL THE TRUCK WAS MOVED OR A WING WALKER WAS SUPPLIED. THE GND GUIDE WAS APPARENTLY OBLIVIOUS TO THE TRUCK AS KEPT MOTIONING US FORWARD EVEN AFTER WE HIT IT.
