Narrative:
On takeoff of flight to st maarten the #3 engine would not produce takeoff thrust. It came up to about 1.98 EPR and #1 and 2 were normal takeoff thrust of 2.04. When we pushed the throttle forward the engine would not respond, so I aborted the takeoff at about 60 KTS and taxied clear of the runway. After determining there was no fire we taxied back to the gate and maintenance told us the engine had blown taking out the whole turbine section. The only possible contributing factor I can think of was the #3 engine was started late and it was a cold day. Although we let it warm for about 3-4 mins, the oil temperature was just touching the green for takeoff. It was a low speed abort and we had no additional problems. A better warm up may or may not have helped.
