Narrative:
We were descending for a landing at sfo. We were about to intercept the sfo 095 degree right about 20 NM out heading about 240 degrees. We were warned of a jet on our left side, but we did not expect a problem. We were glancing out as we were preparing for landing. We saw an small transport crossing in front of us and we turned behind him. Had we not been looking in that quadrant we may have never seen him. See and be seen barely worked. The other pilot never saw us. It is difficult for a 2-MAN crew to have 1 man staring into the sun looking for a small airplane while preparing to land at a busy airport. Supplemental information from acn 103139: bay gave us a VFR traffic 11 O'clock, I think he said 7500' VFR(?). When I looked out I saw an small transport turbo propeller left to right at our altitude. We made an evasive action hard left turn to miss said aircraft. Bay asked the small transport if he saw a widebody transport. He said no; he had to be blind or a liar. We told bay about the miss. We continued to 8000' MSL, then bay got caught up in trying to raise this small transport with numerous radio calls, but no answer.

Title: POTENTIAL CONFLICT BETWEEN ACR-WDB AND UNK-SMT.
Narrative: WE WERE DSNDING FOR A LNDG AT SFO. WE WERE ABOUT TO INTERCEPT THE SFO 095 DEG R ABOUT 20 NM OUT HDG ABOUT 240 DEGS. WE WERE WARNED OF A JET ON OUR LEFT SIDE, BUT WE DID NOT EXPECT A PROB. WE WERE GLANCING OUT AS WE WERE PREPARING FOR LNDG. WE SAW AN SMT XING IN FRONT OF US AND WE TURNED BEHIND HIM. HAD WE NOT BEEN LOOKING IN THAT QUADRANT WE MAY HAVE NEVER SEEN HIM. SEE AND BE SEEN BARELY WORKED. THE OTHER PLT NEVER SAW US. IT IS DIFFICULT FOR A 2-MAN CREW TO HAVE 1 MAN STARING INTO THE SUN LOOKING FOR A SMALL AIRPLANE WHILE PREPARING TO LAND AT A BUSY ARPT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 103139: BAY GAVE US A VFR TFC 11 O'CLOCK, I THINK HE SAID 7500' VFR(?). WHEN I LOOKED OUT I SAW AN SMT TURBO PROP LEFT TO RIGHT AT OUR ALT. WE MADE AN EVASIVE ACTION HARD LEFT TURN TO MISS SAID ACFT. BAY ASKED THE SMT IF HE SAW A WDB. HE SAID NO; HE HAD TO BE BLIND OR A LIAR. WE TOLD BAY ABOUT THE MISS. WE CONTINUED TO 8000' MSL, THEN BAY GOT CAUGHT UP IN TRYING TO RAISE THIS SMT WITH NUMEROUS RADIO CALLS, BUT NO ANSWER.
