Narrative:
The right engine failed west/O warning. Declared emergency and diverted to mem. During descent we had indication of a possible fire. We accomplished abnormal procedure to determine if engine was on fire. It was, so we discharged both (all) fire agent bottles but fire warning light stayed on. F/a's and ground personnel prepared for ground evacuate/evacuation. After landing the crash fire rescue equipment equipment crew advised on radio no smoke or fire visible. I decided not to evacuate/evacuation although the fire light was still on. No injuries occurred--heavy turbine damage to engine. The FAA met the airplane and took a preliminary report. They copied my license data but I had recently moved from az to va. Although I still have a residence in az, I sent a change of address notice to FAA office in 2/89.
