Narrative:
MEL situation. Just prior to pushback with all entry doors supposedly closed, an entry door light illuminated on overhead door annunciator panel with corresponding light aft entry door message on upper EICAS screen. Maintenance then placarded the discrepancy per MEL xa-1. During pushback, ramp control asked us to call maintenance. We did and were asked if our exterior emergency exit lights were on. The first officer then called ramp tower and asked same question. Ramp tower answered no. We then took off and later received an ACARS message from dispatch saying maintenance now believed our exterior emergency exit lights were on. After discussions with dispatch and contract technician, precautions were taken to ensure operation of exterior emergency exit lights upon arrival lhr.
