Narrative:
In cruise flight at FL360 we got a green hydraulic quantity low ECAM. The ECAM had us shut off pumps. Then the ECAM cleared itself and I turned the pumps back on. This happened several times so we complied with ecams. The quantity indicator overhead pointer was fluctuating on the red dot (the low qty indicator). The ECAM display quantity indicated on the low line. We advised operations and maintenance control and diverted to a nearby suitable airport; declared an emergency and made a normal approach and landing. We were able to clear the runway and had company maintenance tow us to the gate.
