Narrative:

On climb out from nassau to fll I was scanning a large area of thunderstorms on the radar and was determining which way to deviate this area. In my concentration on this, I failed to set the altitude select function on the autoplt controller and climbed through our assigned altitude of 14,000'. Center gave us a call as we reached 15,000'. Promptly descended back to 14,000'. First officer was doing aircraft log paperwork at the time.
