Narrative:
During the boarding process at the gate, a large group of passenger traveling together was boarded in the coach section of the aircraft. The group was in a very festive mood and during boarding prior to pushback and during taxiout my attention was diverted from the paperwork to the problems the F/a's were encountering with this group. I remember when ground control told us to taxi to runway 5 I thought, 'good, that will give the F/a's extra time to brief the passenger on the required items. The first officer, who normally checks the weight data record, set in the takeoff weights and mentioned later thinking no problems with a 10000' runway. He also said the fact that there were 2 figures for runway 23 (23 and 23 extended) had distracted him. The takeoff roll and takeoff were uneventful and it was only after being given our initial heading that something made me ask the first officer if we had been legal for that runway. He said, 'of course,' and then checked and said, '(expletive deleted).' the prior duty day was over 12 hours, and this duty day was 12 1/2 hours. There were 11 takeoffs and lndgs in these 2 days. Report time was xa dct on day 1, and release time was xb on the second day. Fatigue may have been a factor. First officer was normally very conscientious and had at least a yr as first officer on this aircraft. I had been into this airport numerous times. The only corrective action I would recommend is that at some point on the taxi checklist there be incorporated a challenge and response, such as 'runway assigned,' with the response, 'runway 23, flaps 5 degrees, maximum takeoff weight 99350 pounds.'

Narrative: DURING THE BOARDING PROCESS AT THE GATE, A LARGE GROUP OF PAX TRAVELING TOGETHER WAS BOARDED IN THE COACH SECTION OF THE ACFT. I REMEMBER WHEN GND CTL TOLD US TO TAXI TO RWY 5 I THOUGHT, 'GOOD, THAT WILL GIVE THE F/A'S EXTRA TIME TO BRIEF THE PAX ON THE REQUIRED ITEMS.
