Narrative:

I flew right hand pattern for runway 34 at benton, ks (rpb) as indicated in AOPA airport guide. Actual pattern is left for 34 and right for 16. The AFD nc from the FAA was unavailable at FBO's throughout ohio, pennsylvania, illinois, indiana, missouri. Along my whole route from the east coast since I could not find an AFD, I used the AOPA book leading to the error. Conclusion: few vendors carry the AFD because few pilots ask for them. Solution: increase the popularity of the AFD in the midwest.!
