While at 2;500 MSL after cleared by ATC for the approach; we received a GPWS warning and immediately executed a climb to 3;100 ft the minimum safe altitude on the published approach.I suggest they raise the minimum vectoring altitude to the south west of the airport.

Title: An E145 flight crew being vectored at 2;500 MSL for Runway 02C ILS at BNA climbed in response to a GPWS terrain warning.
Narrative: While at 2;500 MSL after cleared by ATC for the approach; we received a GPWS warning and immediately executed a climb to 3;100 FT the minimum safe altitude on the published approach.I suggest they raise the minimum vectoring altitude to the South West of the airport.
