Narrative:
I was pilot in command of single engine turboprop on IFR plan; destination provo; ut (pvu). Arriving from the east; we had been kept at a high altitude; arriving over mountains. ATC provided vectors to position west of destination airport and then we were cleared for visual approach. While turning to airport; and descending; ATC advised of VFR traffic below us and to our 1:00. We were about 3;000 feet above airport; descending; and turning to right; towards the airport. This turn was in direction of reported traffic. We were looking for traffic; but did not see it - probably because it was below us; and on right side of plane (as pilot I was seated on left seat of plane). The other plane emerged close to us; going in opposite direction; on our left side and was very close to our left wing tip; at our altitude.
