Narrative:
I was PIC of an small aircraft on a pleasure flight with a friend. We had departed hpn at XX50L en route to the VFR corridor. When I was 5 NM south of the tappan zee bridge, I tried to contact laguardia tower for radar services. At that time my radio was not clear. I had made this trip several times so I decided to proceed southbound down the hudson river under the TCA. The flight was uneventful and as beautiful as ever. We flew around the statue of liberty and proceeded northbound toward the tappan zee bridge. I had with me the new york terminal control area map so I was able to see in detail this area. At 5 NM south of the alpine towers I turned east and flew over yonkers to new rochelle. I flew up the coast to greenwich cove staying clear of the hpn air traffic area. I contacted ny approach on 126.4 to get into hpn. Ny asked it I flew down the corridor, I said yes. He then asked if I flew in the approach of lga. I said no. They gave me a telephone number to call and speak to the tower controller. What they said is that I flew into the TCA without approval and that an aircraft departing lga flew several hundred feet over my aircraft. I did not see this aircraft. I believe I was under the TCA, not in it. Enclosed you will find what I believe my track was during this flight. This is going to be investigated which disturbes me. I am a florida institute of technology aviation student involved in aviation management and airway service management studies. I would like to make my career flying for the FAA and with this on my record, I can forget it.
