Narrative:
Downwind for visual approach elp to runway 8 when dual GPS inoperative messages appeared. Cancelled master caution light and continued on to base turn calling for gear down and flaps 3 then full and landing checklist. I had not cleared ECAM for (lnd; signs blue; sts checked...) landing checks to appear but did not become immediately clear what the problem was until after go-around initiated. Go-around initiated due to confusion which occurred during a high tempo phase of the landing and was in my opinion the safest course of action. First officer resolved by clearing ECAM. A normal approach and landing followed shortly thereafter. No aircraft limits or ATC instructions exceeded. Detailed system knowledge ready to recall immediately.
